Palm Beach Convention Center

The $83-million, 350,000-square-foot Palm Beach County Convention Center opened its doors in January 2004 in the booming downtown district of West Palm Beach, Fla. The state-of-the-art facility features a 100,000-square-foot exhibit hall, a 25,000-square-foot ballroom, 23,000 square feet of flexible breakout space divisible into 23 rooms, expert service teams and an award-winning culinary department. Three thousand guest rooms are available within three miles, expanding to 5,000 guest rooms within five miles. Situated in close proximity to the Palm Beach International Airport, Interstate I-95 and Palm Beach County's beautiful beaches, it is a prime location for conventions, trade shows, meetings and social events.

Each year, the Convention Center hosts nationally and internationally acclaimed consumer shows such as palmbeach³ Contemporary Art Fair; Palm Beach | America's International Fine Art & Antique Fair; the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art and Antique Show; the Palm Beach Boat Show; the Auto Show of the Palm Beaches; and the Palm Beach County Home Show, among others.

The Center has also been home to a number of leading convention industry events, including the Dominion Ambassadors International World Summit on the Kingdom, the American Public Works Association Annual Meeting and Tradeshow, and the University of Pennsylvania's Fourth International Equine Conference on Laminitis. Several high-profile fundraisers featuring guest speakers such as Goldie Hawn, Jay Leno and Mikhail Gorbachev have also been held at the facility.

Additionally, the Convention Center's expansive ballroom is one of Palm Beach County's most desirable locations for weddings, banquets and social gatherings. Executive Chef Michael Russell and his talented culinary team create custom menus for each event.

The operations of the Palm Beach County Convention Center are managed by Global Spectrum and ARAMARK. Global Spectrum is the fastest growing firm in the public assembly facility management field and has more than 70 facilities throughout the United States and Canada. The Philadelphia-based company is part of one of the world's largest sports and entertainment companies, Comcast-Spectacor. ARAMARK is the Convention Center's exclusive food and beverage provider, and can serve anything from quality concessions and continental breakfasts, to elegant hors d'oeuvres and full-course banquets.

Executive Chef Michael Russell
Palm Beach County Convention Center

With his innovative menus and beautifully presented culinary creations, Michael Russell has staked his claim as one of South Florida's top chefs. His love and passion for food is what inspires him and is one of the many reasons why the Palm Beach County Convention Center continues to receive such impressive culinary accolades.

Most recently, Chef Russell and his team received the "Best Presentation" and "People's Choice" awards at the 20th Annual United Cerebral Palsy's Great Chef's Tasting Competition. In addition, he was presented with Florida Table Magazine's "Editor's Choice" award at the Taste of Delray event in June.

Chef Russell's versatile dishes that utilize fresh, organic flavors and premium-quality ingredients always satisfy even the most discriminating pallets. He also ensures that all seafood menu items for the Convention Center comply with the Monteray Bay Aquarium's Seafood WATCH list of sustainable seafood choices.

Some of his most recent creations include: Fernando Beach Rock Shrimp Cake with Florida Spiny Lobster Remoulade and Avocado Mousse; Roast, Seared and Lightly Smoked Meyer Farm Natural Angus Beef Tenderloin with a Tasso Demi Glace, Oven-Dried Tomatoes, Spinach and Roasted Pearl Onions over Cheddar Grit Cake; Pan Seared Pacific Salmon Over White Bean Cassoulet and Braised South Bay Farms Escarole with Artichoke and Fennel Cream; and Cardamom Orange Sabayon with Mango, Espresso Pound Cake Fingers, Sugar Cane Stick and Dark Chocolate Honeycomb.

Earlier this year, Chef Russell was certified by the Culinary Institute of America's Pro Chef. Prior to joining the Convention Center in 2005, he sharpened his skills in Boston, Hawaii and California.
